Remote and set in the most beautiful limestone scenery, Oughtershaw is a hamlet, little more than a clutch of houses, close to the Oughtershaw Beck which feeds the young River Wharfe. It is a gloriously remote location for a tranquil rural cottage break surrounded by nature.
The landscape is dotted with sheep feeding on the grass between the limestone rocks.
The Oughtershaw Road stretches through Upper Wharfedale down to Beckermonds near Deepdale and is a route favoured by cyclists because of the lack of cars. The scenery is incredibly beautiful and worth exploring, Scenes of trickling streams, lush green meadows below limestone rocks and boulder strewn fells are magical.
One beautiful landscape follows another. This is really Yorkshire Dales scenery at its best and every reason to come and spend a few days here on holiday.
