Choosing where to visit in the Dales
Some of us are content to walk and gaze at the countryside enjoying the beauty of nature, in which case, the Yorkshire Dales National Park is a wonderful place to go. Others need to actively pursue their interests and enjoy outdoor activities or love to explore the history of every place they visit.
The names of the dales are familiar to most of us, often encountered through television programmes or books but most of us won't be familiar with the unique attractions of each individual dale. The Herriot tales of a local Yorkshire vet brought this region to most homes at one time and latterly the BBC programme 'The Last of the Summer Wine', set around Holmfirth, endeared Yorkshire to another generation. Most of us love Yorkshire without really knowing why and much seems familiar and comfortable when we visit.
There is a vast amount to explore, visit and remember in the Dales including Herriot Country, the nearby spa town of Harrogate, the wonderful market town of Skipton and other Yorkshire towns famous for their produce and much more....
Perhaps spend a few days at the seaside at one of Yorkshire's Blue Flag beaches such as Filey, Bridlington, Hornsea, Scarborough or Whitby. There is just so much to see and do in the wide exanses of Yorkshire. Take a look at self-catering cottages and holiday accommodation in west Yorkshire, the city of York and beyond.
