Swaledale lies in the northern most section of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The gently rolling countryside of Swaledale encompasses the rugged stone Yorkshire villages of Grinton, Reeth, Low Row , Gunnerside that lie in the valley alongside the River Swale and the B2670 road that follows the course of the river. Various streams and tributaries feed into the River Swale and the village of Muker sits on the southern fork of the river.
The hillsides of Swaledale are a resplendent green during the summer. Spring brings wild flowers in abundance. People flock to see hillsides covered in a carpet of bluebells.
